Motherly Love

I checked her face

To be sure

The time

She gazed at me

A serendipitous creature

Tears were forming

In her glass marbles

You must be different

She whispers

With your children

Let them kiss your hand

You mustn’t pull away

And teach them

About vulnerability

I am so sorry

Dear one

Come closer

She kisses my face

Wipes tears

From my cheekbones

And pushes

My curls

Behind my ear

The motherly

Affection

I’ve been missing

Since I was

Pushed away

And as I tried

To pull away

Due to the

Tension

In my chest

She held on

And for the first time

I felt protected

And loved

By another woman

Lav ❤
